If you have a creative hand and you're a determined individual with a sense of business, starting your own baby bib sales business may be the right career choice for you. The majority of the time you will be creating baby bibs and marketing your business, but you will have to also addess practical and legal issues before operating a baby bib business. These include business registration, proper licensing and tax ID acquisition.

Step 1.

A baby bib business plan should include information about a budget for the production of the bibs, marketing methods for the bibs to new mothers and goals for the business. It should also address a bib selling goal and a plan for creating various bibs. It should include how the bib production will be financed. Also, select a catchy business name pertaining to bibs.

Step 2.

Contact your local chamber of commerce’s office to register your bib business since the chamber deals with local and national businesses. Include vital business information, such as addresses, contact information and business insurance upon registration. Pay the registration fee, which varies depending on the state you live in and where the bib business operates.

Step 3.

Since you are selling a product, you will need to obtain the proper product and vendor permits for your state. If you are producing the bibs from your home, you will also need a product's license. If not, you need documentation to prove you are creating the bibs elsewhere. For instance, this would mean providing documentation of a baby bib business lease. You will be prompted to apply for these at the chamber of commerce office when you register your business.

Step 4.

Create a website where you can promote your business online. Upload pictures of your bibs, your prices and information about you. If you are planning on selling your bibs online, integrate an e-commerce system, so people can purchase the bibs online using a credit card.

Step 7.

Market your bib business on the web, in local newspapers and spread the work to friends and family. While spreading the word by mouth is free, you might have to pay for your newspaper ad, which could be a charge-per-word. The newspaper could also charge you for the space of your advertisement. If you want to put time and effort into your designs to make something modern and unique on the bib market, create two or three bib collections per year. Each collection contains eight to 10 bibs.
