How to Get a Replacement Key for a Cash Register

by Cheryl Starr ; Updated September 26, 2017
Keys and manuals are the two cash register items most often lost.

Replacement cash register keys can be purchased and received rather quickly. If you can contact the salesman who sold you the register and know that you can achieve your goal through the salesman, that may be the best route. Many business machine supply stores offer cash register replacement keys for many major manufacturer business machines. However, the quickest way to know for sure that you are receiving the correct key could be to contact the cash register's manufacturer directly.

Items you will need

  • Pencil
  • Paper
Step 1

Locate the cash register manufacturer's name, the product name and the model number. Write this information down.

Step 2

Call the manufacturer if you still have the owner's manual that came with the cash register. The manufacturer's contact information can be found in the owner's manual. The manufacturer can send you a replacement key.

Step 3

Visit online cash register manufacturer resources such as Sharp or Samsung that offer replacement cash register keys for specific cash registers, or visit sites such as CashRegistersOnline.com or Cash-Register.org. You can search the online catalog at these sites for the cash register key you require.

Step 4

Purchase your key. You may need to pay with a debit or credit card if you are placing an order over the phone or over the Internet. Many cash register manufacturers offer priority mail service or overnight express mail service, so you can receive your key as quickly as possible.
