How to Use a Copy Machine to Collate

Use a copy machine to collate documents by using the Collate option on the copy machine.

Collating on the copy machine is useful when you need several pages of a document duplicated and separated during the copy process. The collate setting should be set prior to the copy job starting so all pages will be collated in the same fashion. Some copy machines will also staple the collated copies. Review your copy machine’s collate options prior to starting the copy job to ensure the collation will be done properly.

Step 1

Place your document in the automatic document feeder. Review the page orientation on the feeder tray to see if you place the document face up or face down.

Step 2

Select the “Collate” option on the copy machine. Enter the number of copies needed. Press “Start.”

Step 3

Collect the collated copies from the copy machine as it complete the copies.
