How to Find Printers Connected to Your Computer

It's not uncommon for a work computer to be networked to a number of different printers. You may have a personal or local printer, and also have access to a larger, commercial printer or a printer in another part of the building. You can easily change your default printer and see what other printers are in the network using the "Devices and Printers" window in Windows 7.

Click the Windows "Start" button.

Choose "Devices and Printers" from the right sidebar.

Scroll to "Printers and Faxes" to see what printers are connected to your computer. You can click a printer to see its properties or to select it as your default printer.

Tips

  • For Apple computers, control-click the "System Preferences" icon in your Dock and then select "Print & Fax" from the submenu." You will see a list of installed printers.
