One of the many features that Konica Minolta digital copiers provides is the ability to use the copier as a printer, scanner, copier and fax machine. Once equipped with a print board, Konica's can serve as a network printer that can print at speeds up to the speed of the copy engine. In addition to print speed, users can also use the finishing features that the copier is equipped with. For example, most Konica's will allow for duplex, or two sided printing, as well as stapling and booklet making.

Things You Will Need
  • Konica copier with installed print board

  • Print drivers

Connect the Konica copier to the network. Most copiers need a network cable in order to be connected to the network. Plug the CAT 5, sometimes called ethernet, network cable into the Network Interface Card port located on the side or rear of the copier. Consult your owner's manual for the location of the NIC. Once connected, press the "Settings" button on the copier's main panel. This will bring up a menu of options. Search for "Printer Settings" and then select "IP Address." Assign an IP address that is unique to your network. Once assigned, this IP address will serve as the identifier for the Konica copier on your network.

Load the print driver. Before a computer can print to a Konica copier, the computer must first have the appropriate print drivers installed. The drivers can either be located on the installation CD that came with the copier, or can be downloaded from Konica-Minolta's website. Be sure to download the correct driver for the operating system of your computer.

Connect to the Konica copier. Once your Konica is connected to your network via a network cable, and print drivers are installed on your computer, you will be able to connect to the copier by setting the installed print driver to connect to the copier by the IP address assigned in step 1. Once connected, the driver will map itself to the copier and will send all print jobs to the Konica copier.

Send test prints to check for proper connection. Once the test prints are successfully printed, you are ready to use your Konica multi-functional device for network printing.

Tip

When assigning an IP address, consult with an IT professional to make sure that both the IP address and the sub-net mask are correct.
