WhatsApp is one of the world's fast-growing communication apps. In 2015 alone, half a billion people around the world were regular, active users of this platform. Global businesses rely on it for internal team communication, customer support and customer communication.

Why You Should Use WhatsApp

WhatsApp is a great way to bring employees together in a team conversation when it’s impossible to congregate in the same room. Many companies with employees around the globe use WhatsApp to make phone and video calls.

You can communicate with existing customers and follow-up with potential customers via this easy-to-use platform. When customers need support, they usually dread calling the customer service line and waiting on hold for several minutes. WhatsApp bridges that gap, enabling customers to send a simple message via the app.

How to Get WhatsApp

To get WhatsApp, you need a smartphone. Apple phone users would access the App Store and Android phone users would access the Google Play store. Type WhatsApp in the search, then download and install the app. Once it’s installed, set up your profile. If your business is on Facebook, you can choose to import all your Facebook information seamlessly.

WhatsApp also has a business version, which you can also download from one of the app stores. If you currently have a regular WhatsApp account, you can migrate your chat history to your new business account. Keep in mind, if you migrate your chat history to your business account, it cannot be reversed. You can use both apps, business and regular, but each will need to have a unique phone number. If you don't see the business option in your app store, keep checking back as it may not be released to your carrier yet.

How Does WhatsApp Work?

WhatsApp needs data to send messages just like standard text messages do. However, by using this app to send messages, you won't cut into your text message allowance on your phone, which is especially appealing if you don't have unlimited texting. WhatsApp uses your existing internet connection instead of your phone plan's voice minutes.

Features of WhatsApp for Business

WhatsApp has many features that can make business life easier. One of the major reasons businesses download WhatsApp is for the enhanced communication with employees and customers alike made possible with the app. And there's a lot more to the app, including reliable messaging, group chat, the ability to sync chats to your computer and document sharing.
