Homeowners are finding that replacing carpet or tile with hardwood flooring works on many levels. Hardwood flooring, for example, is easy to clean and helps prevent allergies. Wood doesn't hold dust or dust mites the way carpet does, plus it's easy to damp mop if treated with a top coat of polyurethane. Hardwood flooring works better than tile flooring for homes with elderly people. Falling on tile can cause serious injuries. Any type of furnishing harmonizes well with hardwood flooring, and wooden floors can be dressed up with area rugs, if desired.
