Often, you will be see that the best and fastest way to repair a locked up cash register is by simply following the reset procedure. The Samsung cash registers follow a very typical procedure that you may be able to apply in cash registers built by other manufacturers as well.

Things You Will Need
  • Cash register

  • Operator's key

Unplug your cash register from the power source. Keep it unplugged for at least five to 10 minutes.

Now insert the manager/operator's key in the control panel lock.

Turn the key and set it to "P".

Next press and hold the "Subtotal" key.

While you press the "Subtotal" key, plug in the cash register back to its power source.

Next turn the key to "REG" setting. Wait until the cash register prints a receipt tape.

Your cash register should be back to its working condition.

Tip

It may be helpful to check out the user manual if this procedure doesn't work for your cash register. Some manufacturers will have a different reset procedure.
