Each state has its own laws governing the establishment of limited liability companies; when an LLC organizes pursuant to state law, its company information becomes public -- allowing you to search for it through the state's corporations bureau or corporations division. This search provides information about the LLC's formation date, its registered address, the name of its registered agent and the names of the owners. If you must find the credit information for an LLC, then you must get a Dun & Bradstreet credit report.
Check LLC Company Information Through a State Corporations Bureau
Navigate to the corporations bureau or division of corporations website of the state in which the LLC is organized. Every state has a corporations bureau or division as a part of its department of state, secretary of state's office, department of revenue or as an independent entity, and an LLC must file its organization paperwork with this bureau.
Search for the LLC company information using the corporations bureau's business-entity database. In some cases this is called a "Corporation Search," "Business Entity Search" or a "General Information Name Search." Enter the businesses name into the search field and click the "Search" button.
Click the link associated with the LLC you're researching to display information including the registered address, the registered agent, the date the LLC organized, the government-assigned entity number and whether the LLC is in active status.
Call the corporations bureau or division to verify the information if you have any questions about the accuracy of the information you find online.
Check an LLC Credit Report Through Dun & Bradstreet
Call the Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corporation. Call a Dun & Bradstreet sales representative at 877-753-1444 or the Client Services Team at 800-333-0505. Either will be able to help you obtain a D&B report.
Provide the LLC's information to the sales representative. You must provide the company's name and country in order to retrieve information about it. Provide the complete address and telephone number, if you have the information, in order to help the sales representative prepare the D&B Report quickly.
Choose a D&B Report. There are five different D&B Reports -- the "Credit eValuator Report," the "Credit eValuator Plus Report," the "Business Information Report," the "Comprehensive Insight Plus Report" and the "CreditAdvisor." The reports vary in price, ranging from $39.99 to $179, depending on the amount of information in the report and the time period for which you can access the report -- six months or one year.
Provide your billing and mailing information. The D&B Report will be mailed to you after you have paid the fee.
You can also obtain the D&B Report using the Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corporation website by searching for the LLC in the "Get a D&B Credit Report" box, choosing a D&B Report, creating an account with Dun & Bradstreet and completing the check-out process.
