The toner light on the Brother HL-2070N is illuminated when the amount of toner in the printer's cartridges becomes too low. To turn this light off and resume normal printing you may need to change the printer's toner cartridge. If your HL-2070N toner light remains illuminated after you change your toner cartridge, you can take steps to rectify the problem. You should be able to replace the toner cartridge on your HL-2070N in about 10 minutes.

Things You Will Need
  • Replacement HL-2070N toner cartridge

  • Paper towel

  • Plastic bag

Changing the Toner Cartridge

Step 1.

Pull down the front cover of the printer to reveal the drum and toner assembly.

Step 2.

Grip the center of the drum and toner assembly and pull it from the machine. Place the assembly on paper towels to prevent leaks from creating a mess.

Step 3.

Push down the blue lock lever on the left side of the assembly. Lift the toner cartridge out of the drum and toner assembly. Seal the empty cartridge in a plastic bag.

Step 4.

Unwrap the new toner cartridge. Loosen the toner by holding the cartridge on both sides and gently shaking it.

Step 5.

Remove the protective cover from the new toner cartridge. Place it inside the drum assembly. The blue lock lever automatically rises when the cartridge is inserted properly.

Step 6.

Slide the blue tab on the back of the drum and toner assembly back and forth several times to clean the primary corona. Replace the tab to its "Home" position (represented by a triangle) before continuing.

Step 7.

Slide the drum and toner assembly back into the printer and close the front cover. The "Toner" light should go out.
