Whether you're the owner or property manager of an apartment, condominium, house or structure that is being rented, a rental statement can help you keep track of the monetary agreements between you and your tenants. In many instances, rental statements are mailed every month to a tenant and may include a self-addressed stamped envelope that makes it easy for your tenant to send back his payment. Creating a rental statement can be accomplished by following some guidelines.
Create a Rent Template in Word
Open a word processing program on a computer. At the top left, write your name or your business name if you're the owner of the property, or the business name of the property company if you're the property manager. Directly below, write the name to which the tenant should make the rent payable, and the address where the payment should be mailed. Left justify this information so it's lined up flush left on the page.
Fill Out the Basics
Write the words "Rent Statement," the month of the statement and the name and address of the tenant in the top right corner. Write the rent due date, the rent amount, the date upon which the rent will be considered late, the late fee and any past due charges from previous months, directly below the tenant's name and address. Right justify this information so it's lined up flush right on the page.
Create a Rent Statement Tear Slip
Draw a horizontal line all the way across the page below the information you've written on the top left and right side. Write the words "Tear off upper portion of this statement and mail with your check," directly above the line. Write the words "Keep this portion for your records" directly below the line. Skip two spaces and write your name or business name, or the name of property management company and center this information in the middle of the page.
Skip two spaces and write "Rent Statement" and the month of the statement on the left side of the page, so it is left justified.
Fill Out the Details
Skip a space and write the rent due date, the rent amount, the date upon which the rent will be considered late, the late fee and any past due charges from previous months. Write the word "Check #" and "Amount" so the renter can fill out these figures for their own records. This portion of the statement should also be left justified.
