A well-written motivation letter may make all the difference when trying to land your ideal job. A motivation letter is the cover letter that accompanies your CV when applying for a position. It is the first thing that a recruiter sees when she opens your application package. The letter provides you with the opportunity to get your foot in the door and the catch her interest.
Present a strong and clear statement about why you are applying for the position. The first paragraph of the motivation letter should be between three and four sentences. Let the recruiter know why you are interestedmin the position. Make sure to mention the job position title and the company by name.
Show the recruiter that you are well-qualified for the position. The main body of the motivation letter provides you with the opportunity to persuade the recruiter that you are the best choice for the position. The main body should be one to two paragraphs. Begin with a strong opening sentence that lets the recruiter know you are qualified for the position. Back-up your claim with evidence; past work experience and successes, academic achievement, mention the awards that you have received. Discuss the specific skills that qualify you for the position. Mention additional assets and qualities that you would bring to the company. Conclude this part of the letter with a one-sentence summary of your main points.
Conclude the letter by politely asking for an interview. The conclusion of the motivation letter should be two to four sentences. Remind the recruiter about the CV included with the letter, thank them for their time and consideration, and end the letter by suggesting a meeting or interview.
Conclude the letter with "Sincerely" and your name typed underneath. Leave a space for your signature between "Sincerely" and your name. Proofread the letter several times and sign your name in black ink in the space you left vacant.
