Big Lots is a discount department store that sells an assortment of goods ranging from pantry items to furniture. It has discontinued its credit card program, so you can't apply for a traditional store card. However, there are ways you still can get credit at Big Lots for certain items.
Partnership With Progressive
Big Lots partners with Progressive Leasing, a finance company that will extend credit for select furniture items and metal-framed pools under a lease-to-purchase agreement. You apply in-store and receive a decision in a few minutes. This doesn't involve a credit check at all -- instead, Progressive bases its decision on your income and employment. Because of this, you will be required to enter your pay dates and provide Progressive with your employment information, including your employer's name and phone number.
Payment Process
Progressive drafts payments from your checking account automatically, so be prepared to provide your routing number and checking account number when you apply. If you pay off your items within 90 days, your credit offer will be considered same-as-cash, meaning there will be no interest charged to your account. If you choose to finance your items for 12 months, you will pay interest that could double the cost of your furniture.
