How to Report Bad Customer Service. If you have a problem with a company and do not receive the appropriate help and support from its customer service department, it may be time to look for help elsewhere. While this should be considered a last resort, it is possible to report to outside sources if a company has been rude, neglectful or simply failed to provide you with the appropriate level of customer service.
Start by contacting the company against which you have a complaint. Ask to talk to a manager to report bad customer service you have received from an employee. If you are dealing with a large company and the manager is not available immediately, you can always ask for a phone number to call later.
Write a letter to the CEO of the company or to the central management office if the company is regional. Be polite but firm, and explain what you would like the company to do in order for you to be satisfied. If you want a refund, ask for one. Otherwise, just describe your experience with the customer service representative with whom you had a problem.
Contact the Customer Service Army website to report a complaint that has been ignored by the company itself (see Resources below). The CSA has a light tone and often uses jokes as a way of dealing with problems related to bad customer service. Still, it is possible to use the website to find ideas on how to complain, where to report your experience and how to deal with the problem.
Contact the Better Business Bureau if the problem you had with bad customer service resulted in you losing money or getting cheated regarding a service or product (see Resources below).
Look into Shopper Grade, a customer service grading and reporting service website (see Resources below). The site allows visitors to grade different companies according to their level of customer service and provides tools and suggestions on how to deal with common problems. It also gives you an opportunity to provide reviews and warn others of potential problems.
- While the Better Business Bureau does not deal directly with customer service complaints, once you lose money due to the lack of help from a company, the BBB can help.
