How to Get an ASI Number

The Advertising Specialty Institution provides members with an ASI number. The ASI number provides companies with a level of credibility, access to the market and immediate recognition between companies. ASI claims that the number is literally "The number that matters" in the industry. To obtain one of these numbers you must register and apply to become a member of their organization via one of the offered departments including suppliers, decorators, distributors and multi-line representative. In addition, there are qualifications and fees associated with membership and application processing.

ASI for Distributor

Step 1

Complete and submit an application on the ASI website. The application can be submitted electronically using the link www.asicentral.com/asp/open/apps/joinasi/distributor/step3_2.asp?formType=US or by printing out and mailing or faxing the form found at www.asicentral.com/html/open/joinASI/distributor/distributorApp2.pdf to the information provided.

Step 2

Include the required information. Distributors must provide proof of your business activity by submitting copies of at least three invoices from different ASI suppliers, addressed to you. Each invoice must be more than $100 and dated within the last 12 months. The invoices must include the name, city and state of a different end-user customer. If you apply online, fax these invoices to the number on the application, otherwise mail the invoices with your application.

Step 3

Pay the applicable fees. ASI Basic Membership is $29.99 per month for your first year. There is also a one-time-only, non-refundable application fee of $150. This can be paid online with a credit card or by check through the mail to the listed address. If you mail a check include a written note with your company name as indicated on your online application. If you apply online but wish to mail a check for payment, include a note specifying that you have completed an online application, the date you completed it and that your check is for your membership and processing fees.

Supplier

Step 1

Determine your membership needs as a supplier by reviewing the ASI website at www.asicentral.com/asp/open/productsandservices/membership.aspx

Step 2

Register as a member on the ASI website at www.asicentral.com/ASIStore/products.aspx?prodID=3&t=4

Step 3

Pay $199 per month for membership using a credit card in the allotted space.

Decorator

Step 1

Determine your membership needs as a decorator by reviewing the ASI website at www.asicentral.com/asp/open/productsandservices/membership.aspx

Step 2

Print out and complete the application from the ASI website at www.asicentral.com/asp/open/joinASI/serviceprovider/step3.aspx. Fax or mail your application to the address and number provided.

Step 3

Pay the applicable fees. ASI Basic Membership is $595. There is also a one-time-only, non-refundable application fee of $150. This can be paid by mailing in a check to the listed address. If you mail a check, include a written note with your company name as indicated on your online application.

Multi-Line Representative

Step 1

Determine your membership needs as a multi-line representative by reviewing the ASI website at www.asicentral.com/asp/open/productsandservices/membership.aspx

Step 2

Satisfy the requirements to be a representative. Representatives must be promotional products industry supplier representatives. They must also provide services to promotional products industry distributors exclusively.

Step 3

Print, complete and fax the application to the number provided on the application at www.asicentral.com/html/open/joinASI/multilinerep/pdfs/mlrinfo.PDF

Step 4

Pay the applicable fees. ASI Basic Enrollment fee is $175 for your first year. This can be mailed in a check form to the listed address. If you mail a check, include a written note with your company name as indicated on your online application.

Tips

  • If your application is denied you will be refunded your membership fees but not your application fee.
