How to Start a Medical Uniform Franchise

Medical uniform companies, such as Affordable Uniforms, have franchising opportunities for entrepreneurs. As the medical field grows, the demand for medical uniforms grows as well. Investing in a franchise allows you the benefits of owning your own business but with the safety of operating under an established and trusted brand name. Franchises require several guidelines to be met before and after the application process to ensure that your business does not tarnish the brand name.

Identify a list of medical uniform companies you would like to purchase as a franchise. Not all medial uniform companies have franchising opportunities available, however, you can search the web for companies, such as Affordable Uniform and Uniform Advantage, that do. Contact the companies you are interested in to request additional information.

Complete the application for the franchise.

Find financing for your franchise. You will not only need to pay the franchise fee, but you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have the required amount of capital to invest. For example, Affordable Uniform requires a franchise fee of $20,000 in addition to $150,000 to $250,000 of additional investment money. Financing comes from 2 main sources, personal investment money or loans. If you don't have the personal money to invest in your franchise, you can apply for a business loan from a bank.

Complete the required setup and training process. This process varies from company to company. It can take from six to nine months to complete. You will be required to complete your training program within this time span. The details of these training programs vary depending on the franchise. Many of these programs involve detailed information about the polices, procedures, and instruction on how to run your medical uniform store. You might also be required to attend an intensive owner’s training program that might last approximately two weeks.

Find a location for your store. Your franchise company will have requirements and guidelines that must be met when selecting a site, negotiating a lease, or building a new facility. Franchise companies will walk you through this process, but it is your responsibility to handle all costs associated with your new building, such as paying closing costs or leasing fees.

Order supplies and equipment. Many franchises provide owners with a catalog of supplies, equipment, and products. These products not only include the medical uniforms you will sell but also the uniforms your employees will wear, if your franchise company requires employee uniforms. It is your responsibility to purchase these materials for your store.
