Wonderlic began distributing the Wonderlic Personnel Test in 1937 from his Chicago apartment, and the test was used by the United States Navy during World War II to select candidates for pilot training and navigation. Many companies continue to use a 50-question revised version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test to measure cognitive ability and intelligence to help them select employees.
