Start Up Nation

According to Start Up Nation's website, they are entrepreneurs helping other entrepreneurs. They provide counseling services from a variety of experts and peers who have started businesses. The founders, Jeff and Rich Sloan, have won numerous awards. One notable award is the 2005 Michigan and Midwest Small Business Journalists of the Year presented by the Small Business Administration.

My Own Business

My Own Business is a non-profit organization devoted to educating entrepreneurs on how to start and run a business. According to their mission statement, they provide free coursework that builds success. Educational offering are through several channels, such as the Internet, textbooks, or classroom instruction. Another one of their goals is to foster collaboration between educational, banking, and government institutions.

If you are thinking about starting a business in California, the Central California Small Business Development Center (CSBDC) can help you. Started in 1977 through nine universities, they provide mentoring services in centers scattered throughout the state. They provide free consulting from business experts in areas such as planning or cash flow management. Furthermore, they offer free seminars and have training tools available through the Internet.
