Most business owners are keenly aware of the power of a Google search, and what it can do for website traffic. Google is the premiere search engine, with more than 80 million visitors per month. There are many ways to get your website listed on Google, but some can be very expensive, especially for start-up or small business owners. Here's a tip on getting a free Google listing that is fast and easy.
Go to Maps.Google.com and click on "Put your business on Google Maps." This will redirect you to the "Local Business Center." If you already have a Google account, you may sign in and proceed to Step 2. If not, you'll need to set one up.
Click on "Add New Business." Enter your basic information in the fields provided, including your website, phone number and a working email address. As you type in the details, you'll notice your listing forming on the right-hand side of the screen, complete with a map location. Once you've completed this step, you may fix an incorrect marker location if necessary.
Click Next. You may now provide additional information for your business, such as hours of operation, payments accepted, etc.
Submit your business listing. Verify your listing using a phone, SMS or PIN that will be mailed to you via that address in your listing. Once verified, businesses usually show up on Google Maps within a few weeks.
To add up to 10 different business locations, follow the instructions for bulk upload on the "Local Business Center" webpage.
