Many organizations, foundations, endowments and trusts provide faith-based grants for churches. These granters give funding for the areas of evangelism and discipleship, church development and growth, community ministries and outreach, and vocational education.
The Lilly Endowment, Inc.
As one of the largest faith-based granters, the Lilly Endowment provides grants for the support and training of Christian leaders, giving $500 million annually to churches and ministries. The Endowment regularly funds programs for clergy renewal and camp ministry enhancements.
The Mustard Seed Foundation
Established in 1983 by a Christian family, Mustard Seed Foundation supports churches and ministries. It funds scholarships for higher education. The Foundation also provides grants for inner city churches with ministries to the homeless, immigrants, addicts, prostitutes and gangs.
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship gives mission-based ministry grants to congregations that are actively involved with service in local communities, such as providing school supplies to children and operating a food pantry. Close to 20 churches receive funding every year.
The Timothy Fund
Established by the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), the Timothy Fund supports churches with apprenticeships for pastors within the PCA. These apprenticeships provide for the education and training--as well as field support--needed by church planters.
The Oldham Little Church Fund
The Oldham Little Church Foundation focuses on meeting temporary needs of local congregations, such as assistance with repair or construction needs. The Foundation gives 80 to 100 grants every year, with most grants averaging $5,000.
