How to Program a Symbol DS6707 Scanner

by Quinten Plummer; Updated September 26, 2017

Motorola's Symbol DS6707 is a versatile handheld scanner that features the ability to scan both pictures and bar codes alike. The device's USB and serial cable connections allow the device to connect to an array of computers and Point of Sale (POS) units. And while the DS6707 comes packaged with programming software, the scanner can be quickly configured without using its software.

Step 1

Connect the DS6707 to your computer via the scanner's USB cable. Plug the USB end of the cable into a USB port on your computer; plug the clip adapter side of the cable into the port on the bottom of the DS6707.

Step 2

Open the DS6707's Quick Start Guide. Scan the bar code associated with the scanning function you'd like the DS6707 to emulate -- aim the DS6707 and pull the trigger. For example, scan the "HID Keyboard" bar code to enable the DS6707 to emulate keyboard input.

Step 3

Click "Next" when the "Human Interface Device" wizard launches. Continue to the end of the wizard to finalize programming.
