Blocking your number in order to make a long distance call is a sure way to avoid an unwanted call back. Whether you are calling a number of someone you do not know personally or returning a call to a number on your caller ID, there are many reasons why you may not want the recipient to have your number. By pushing three extra keys on your telephone, you can call privately to a long distance number in under a minute.

Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone. A dial tone indicates the phone is working properly and you are able to make a phone call.

Locate the long distance number you need to call. Have the number in front of you while dialing as you do not have an extensive amount of time to dial.

Dial 67 followed by 1, the area code and the phone number. For example, if you are calling 255-555-1122, dial 6712555551122. Your number will show up either as "Unavailable", "Private Caller" or "Unknown" to the recipient.
