The Cisco line of IP phones use a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular, or analog, phone line, which allows all phones in an office to stay on their own network. The new 7942 model is a step up from the very similar 7941 model, but Cisco points users of either to instructions for the 7941 phone. Its more commonly-used office functions are fairly simple. The hi-fidelity wideband audio handset is the biggest advantage the 7942 has over the 7941. Another of its better features is the hands-free speakerphone.
