by James Clark; Updated September 26, 2017

Swintec manufactures a variety of office and business machines, including electric typewriters with presets for adjusting margins and tabs on the typed paper. Clearing the preset margins on a Swintec typewriter takes only a few seconds.

Step 1

Toggle the power button on the left edge of the Swintec typewriter to the "On" position.

Step 2

Press the "Return" key on the right side of the keyboard to send the carriage to the far left starting position.

Step 3

Press the "Clear" key to erase the margin setting stored in the Swintec's memory.

Step 4

Press the "Tab" key repeatedly on the upper left corner of the keyboard to advance the carriage to the right margin, where it will stop.

Step 5

Press the "Clear" key once more to erase the right-margin setting stored in the typewriter's memory.
