The NEC voice mail system is a professional system used by companies, institutions and schools. The NEC system is often used on post-secondary campuses for both the administration department and dormitories. To set up an NEC voice mail inbox, you need to follow basic, standard instructions. The general procedure is similar to that of other voice mail systems, as you need to use a password, record a personalized greeting and follow basic steps to finish the setup and activation process.
Call 26000 from the phone that needs to have the NEC voice mail set up. This will connect you to the NEC voice mail system.
Wait while the system registers your voice mail inbox. It will register and start the activation process based on the extension you are calling from, so don't call from a different phone.
Enter the temporary NEC password, which is 3425 (or D-I-A-L).
State your first and last name when prompted to do so, then press the # key to end the recording.
Listen to the standard NEC voice mail message. It will introduce you by your name and extension. It will also inform callers of your office or department and ask them to leave a message.
Create a new password for your NEC voice mail account to replace the standard temporary password. This can be a three- to 10-digit password of your choice. When you have entered it, press the # key.
Enter your password once more to ensure that it has been recorded correctly. To finish the activation process, click the # key once more.
Press * to return to the NEC voice mail menu. It will ask you to confirm the changes made to the voice mail. You can hang up when you have accepted and confirmed the changes.
