Networking a LaserJet 1320 printer allows multiple computers to access it through a wireless network. This is useful if there are several computers in your office or home that need to print through the LaserJet 1320. It is also useful if you use a laptop and want the freedom to print from anywhere within range of the wireless network. HP includes an installation CD with LaserJet 1320 that configures your computer, router and printer to all work together.

Connect your LaserJet 1320’s Ethernet port to an available Ethernet port on the back of your wireless router using the Ethernet cable provided. Verify that the green light on the LaserJet 1320’s Ethernet port is illuminated. Check your router’s Internet connection if the green light does not light up.

Verify that your computer is connected to the Internet router either by Ethernet connection or by logging onto the wireless network. Insert the LaserJet 1320 installation CD into your computer. Click “Run” when your computer asks you for permission to run the program. Click “Install HP LaserJet software.”

Click “Next” on the Welcome screen. Select “Connected via the network” on the next screen. Click “Next.” Select “Search from a list of detected printers” and click “Next” again. Select “Yes, install this printer” when the LaserJet 1320 is found. Click “Next.”

Select “Wireless” and click “Next.” Indicate what kind of wireless network the LaserJet 1320 is connected to. Click “Next.” Enter the network key to your router if you selected a secure network. Click “Next.”

View the settings summary. Click “Change Settings” if you have changes to make. Click “Next” if the settings are satisfactory. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the LaserJet 1320 and the router when prompted. Click “Next.”

Choose which installation type you want for the HP software. Click “Next.” Click “Install” to begin the installation. Click “Finish.”
