The perfume industry is a $25 billion dollar a year world-wide business. $5.1 billion is spent annually in the United States alone. Being a perfume distributor will give you the ability to work from home by selling on the Internet or through small local retail shops. Best of all you can get started with little to no investment.

Sign up with a drop-shipper. This is the easiest and least expensive way to become a perfume distributor. It requires no investment and you don't need to purchase your products ahead of time. Simply sell the items either online or through a catalog and once the customer has paid for it, order the goods from your supplier, which they will sell to you above wholesale price. Three perfume wholesalers that drop-ship products include Fragrance Net, Fragrance X and Name Brands Perfume.

Sell products online. A few places that you can begin selling perfume include iOffer, eBay, and Bonanzle. Although at Ebay you will have lots of competition and will likely have problems being able to make a profit as a drop-shipper since most of the sellers there purchase products below wholesale. Although iOffer and Bonanzle have a lot less competition and charge no listing fees, they do not get nearly as much traffic as Ebay so you won't make as many sales.

Start a distributorship with World Wide Perfumes at a cost of between $6,000 to $20,000. This company allows you to distribute perfumes through retail shops at places such as boutiques, Hair Salons, Hotels, Tanning Salons and Nail Salons. They will provide you with the display cabinets, perfume and assistance in building the contacts for finding your local placement locations.
