Australia, the land Down Under, is a country that is full of opportunities for tourism and business ventures. With all of the possible connections you may have with Australian residents and businesses, there is a good chance that you will need to send a fax to Australia at some point in your life. Fortunately, faxing Australia is nearly as simple as faxing to someone in the United States. All you need to do is complete a couple extra steps.
Determine what documents you want to fax to Australia. Put them in order and make sure all of the edges are even. Also make sure you don’t have any fasteners attached to the page that you want to fax. These can damage or jam your fax machine. Create a cover sheet that includes who the fax is from, who the fax is for, how many pages will follow the cover sheet and what the fax is about. Place these pages in your fax machine.
Enter the international dialing code for calls and faxes leaving the United States and the country code for Australia. The first two dialing codes for sending a fax from the United States to Australia are 011+61.
Look up the city dialing code for the city you need to send your fax to. City codes are what Americans call area codes. Here are some of the most commonly used city codes: Alice Springs, 08; Brisbane, 07; Gold Coast, 07; Melbourne, 03; Perth, 08; Sydney, 02; and Toowoomba, 07. After you enter the city code, you dial the local phone number. The completed dialing code will look like this: 011+61+city code+local phone number.
Complete your fax by hitting the send button on your fax machine. Wait until all the pages have been transmitted before walking away from the machine. A confirmation message should print out on paper or on the LED screen of your fax machine.
